What We Offer
Our identity is founded in our worship, and at St. Peter’s we live into the belief that worship is the work of all people. There are many ways that lay people are involved in our Sunday worship and special services
We have ushers who greet people at the door and help them get acquainted with St. Peter’s
We are blessed with lay readers who are well-trained in proclaiming scripture through reading the Old and New Testament lessons, and lead us in the Prayers of the People.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers
Lay Eucharistic Ministers, licensed by the diocese, assist with communion by administering the chalice. They are also licensed to lead prayer book services that do not require a priest, such as Morning Prayer.
Many of our youth are acolytes, who assist the priest at the altar.
Behind the scenes is the Altar Guild, a committed group of people who see to the care and maintenance of the altar furnishings and help prepare the church for festival seasons such as Christmas and Easter.
We also have a small but vital Flower Guild, who adorn the sanctuary with fresh flower arrangements which they create from combinations of bought flowers and others collected from our gardens and the fields.
The variety of lay involvement shows that it takes many hearts and hands to help with worship. If you are worshipping at St. Peter’s, or would like to join us and participate in any of these underlined ministries, please contact the church office.
