What We Offer

Music is well said to be the speech of angels; in fact, nothing among the utterances allowed to man is felt to be so divine. It brings us near to the infinite. ~Thomas Carlyle

Music is a vital aspect of our worship and provides great joy to us all. Our music ministry includes an adult and a children’s choir.  The adult choir sings from September through June, with weekly rehearsals.  No formal training is required for participation in this diverse group.  The children's choir sings each Christmas, Easter, Advent, and occasionally during the year.

Sunday morning services are enhanced by a blend of music from the 1982 Hymnal, Taize music and other contemporary sacred songs. On High Holy Days we have instrumental accompaniment which can include flute, timpani, trumpet, violin, and clarinet. Instrumental musicians are always needed to enrich our music.  St. Peter’s has been blessed with a wonderful pipe organ, rebuilt and maintained by Fay and John Morlock, and recently received a baby grand piano, through the generosity of Phil and Nancy Jerrold.

Emery Freethey is our Director of Music, Organist, and Choir Director. He has been with us for many years and is the heart of the music at St. Peter’s.  His kind heart, generous spirit and passion for music are always present, whether during choir rehearsals or weekly services.

Please consider joining us in the music ministry of St. Peter’s. It’s a great way to get to know people and become an active part of the worship, as we give praise to God.  Whatever your instrument may be; come speak to the angels with us!

The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.  ~Johann Sebastian Bach

Choir meets every Tuesday evening for rehearsal at 7:00pm
