St. Peter’s newest wall hanging, The Tree of Life, was created by church member Virginia “Ginny” Guaraldi and occupies a prominent place in our church sanctuary. Here are a few words from its creator.
The Tree of Life quilt was made from a design by Steve Wilson--owner and designer of the company “Anita Goodesign” (inspired by a tour he took of the palace at Versailles). I loved the design when I saw it. Our faith celebrates the beauty and glory of creation and life always renewing. Throughout the history of all religious faiths tapestry was an important visual inspiration and reminder of the stories and symbols behind the beliefs. I find great joy in making fabric wall-hangings and bed quilts. The use of visual motifs in the fiberwork attempt to inspire reflection and give affirmation to our sense of ourselves in this world. (I used thousands of yards of thread and it took hundreds of hours to embroider and sew together.)
