The Fifth Annual Greater Manchester/Londonderry CROP Hunger Walk was held on Sunday, October 23rd in Londonderry. Members from three other local churches joined St. Peter's to raise funds for hunger programs in our area and around the world. 53 walkers participated and raised a total of $7,245.
St. Peter’s Walk Team had set a goal of raising $2,750 at this year’s walk and ended up raising $2,900. The number of walkers and the dollars raised are new record high figures for this event. A portion of funds raised will go to local agencies fighting hunger, including the Upper Room Food Pantry in Derry. The remaining funds will go to support Church World Service’s hunger relief and development programs around the world.
Many thanks to those who planned and set up the walk, those who worked the registration table, and those who provided refreshments. A special thanks to the Londonderry Police Explorers for making the walk a safe event. And a big THANK YOU to everyone who walked or pledged.
